Bio

Greg “G.O.” Offutt was born March 26th 1986 in Silver Spring, MD (White Oak). He was raised by his mother and has two younger brothers. Most of his family is from Montgomery County; mostly in Rockville, MD (Lincoln Park). He graduated from Gaithersburg High School in 2004 and after school he went to Montgomery College and found out school was not for him anymore. “I felt like I was in school all my life and school is not for everybody and I felt it was my time to start working on my career! Comedy is my life. People said I have what it takes so, I took their advice.”

Comedy always ran in Greg’s blood since he was always entertaining, pranking, joking around with family and friends. His mother used to tell him he needed to study the great comedians. “My mother used to tell me Richard Pryor was the greatest comedian of all time and I watched him perform on old footage and he was great! I like Eddie Murphy, Bernie Mac and Paul Mooney! I told myself I wanted to be great just like them one day.”

In 2005 he used to carry around a pencil and notepad to write his comedy. Greg started off writing, then it became a challenge to him. “When I first started I thought it was going to be a lay-up, that it was going to be easy and I had nothing to worry about. But I didn’t even know how to make a correct joke on paper! I used to watch the stand-up comedians on BET and Comedy Central perform, it looked easy on TV but I realized that they must put in a lot of hard work to write their routine.” He felt like stand-up comedy was not for him so he decided to write up skits for a living because he felt like that was in his comfort zone in 2006. “Writing out skits at the age of 20 was not all that great for me at the time because I was being lazy but I felt OK at it and it was better than doing stand-up comedy in my opinion.”

In 2009 Greg was approached to do a small film for a co-worker of his and Greg loved it so much he kept acting in small films for people for college projects. Then his mother called him and asked him, “Have you ever watched this show called Curb Your Enthusiasm?” Greg was hesitant at first until he took his mother’s advice and watched the show. “At first I seen the guy and I saw that he was older and I didn’t think I would like it but I took a chance and watched it! It was a great show! It reminded me of my life because people don’t get my humor sometimes or understand the person I am, so I told myself instead of writing skits, I am going to write out my real life story about myself. Stuff I heard or something I think would be funny.”

From that point on he been writing all the time and writing ideas down on paper. His favorite writers are Larry David, Jay-Z and R Kelly, but mostly R Kelly. “Even though R Kelly does music and I do comedy, I think he is very talented and the guy can write about anything and ‘Trapped in the Closet’ was just amazing and it challenged me to be more creative with my writing and make my stories more interesting.”

When asked what was Greg “G.O.” Offutt’s goals for the future his thoughts were passionate. “I always dreamed that one day I will represent my area the DMV right for the most part. I want to be one of the best writers in the comedy field one day and I will keep writing and always be true to myself. I want to write movies and TV shows and I definitely want to keep acting because that’s also in my field. I am just ready to take the world by storm and I won’t stop until I make it a reality!”
